Greetings ya'll,

There are two important events coming up next month.

First, Maryland QSO Party (http://mdcqsoparty.w3vpr.org/) will be held on
8-9
August. There are two operating periods for the event:

Period 1: Saturday, noon to midnight
Period 2: Sunday, noon to 8:00 PM.

We made a pretty good showing last year (15,644 points, fifth place) and
I'm
hoping we can improve those numbers this year. I'd like to activate the
station at Mt. Hope, again, and keep both radios humming (until 9:00PM
when
they kick us out).

Second, the ARRL Rookie Roundup - RTTY
(http://www.arrl.org/rookie-roundup) is
coming up on 16 August and aimed at getting new hams (licensed three years
or
less) on the air and trying new things. I think we have a few new hams in
the
club so this would be an excellent time to get your feet wet while having
someone nearby to help you out if you have questions.

Again, I'd like to see Mt. Hope being used for this. The event begins
2:00 PM
and ends 7:59 PM (so no problems with getting kicked out).

Who else is interested in the above events and can help make some noise on
the
radio?

73,
Eric W4OTN/3
