Peter Holt KB3SXB and myself worked on the tower and antenna yesterday since it was a beautiful December day. The tower is assembled; 4 ten foot sections on the ground. One section is already cemented in the ground. 2 of the 3 grounding rods are driven in and connected to the tower and bonded to the building ground. The dual band vertical antenna is assembled and trial fitted to the top section of the tower. Looks like a good fit. We have an 80 and a 40 foot cable to connect the antenna to the feedthrough at the Comm Center window. The 80 will probably be enough. Will make more precise measurement soon to be sure. We are coordinating with Drum Point POA for getting a bucket truck soon to erect the tower with the antenna mounted on it. Getting very close to having a tall dual band antenna for the south county ops.
One of our concerns is if the used cables are good. Does anyone have a good means to check the continuity and loss in the cables? I plan to come up Wednesday for lunch and will bring the cables if someone can check them. Or I can take them somewhere else for checking them.
