A few tidbits from my OO Report from ARRL HQ.

An interesting response to an OO for an advisory sent for being too close to the lower edge of the 40 meter phone band prompted a number of e-mails resulting in a clarification. The recipient had a difficult time accepting the fact that even though the lower limit on 40 meters is 7125, he could not legally operate with his dial set on that frequency failing to realize the bandwidth of his signal.

The Kentucky OOC reports amateur call K4RGJ is being bootlegged, heard on 20 meter phone.

The South Texas OOs were alerted to monitor 7260 after a complaint was received at headquarters regarding bad behavior.

This interesting account was given by a Maryland OO. He first sent an advisory to amateur he heard on the air and it appeared his license had expired. Further monitoring and research revealed that the amateur had become a SK some time before and someone was bootlegging his call! As Paul Harvey used to say and now the rest of the story…………………

If you or know of someone that is interested in becoming an Official Observer , contact me.

Yes, there is a test you must take and be a member of the ARRL.
