I am a current VE and I am certified with Laurel until 10/10/2021.
I have been inactive with Anne Arundel Radio Club VE team for about two
years.
Prior to that I was very active and did many of their test sessions, with
both Bob and
Brenda Rose at AARC.
I will try to help out as much as possible, but you have to understand my
wife is
handicapped and my time could be limited.
I think it is a great idea and I suggest you contact Bob Rose for assistance
for your
First VE session.

A few weeks ago the topic came up with about holding a test session within
the club. Here's the info I received from the ARRL VEC:

As long as we have three VEs (one must be an Extra to act as the Liaison and
be custodian of the Extra exams) then we can host our own testing sessions.
The VE team from Laurel is W5YI and not ARRL and operates under different
rules. We do not have to involve them to host our own sessions. Any time
we want to do an exam we just need to give the ARRL a few weeks notice to
schedule everything and send us the materials.

I'm not sure who is a VE (and thus how many VEs we have) but it might be
nice to hold an exam down here on an irregular basis (like after we have a
Technician, General, or Extra class) so we're not having to truck folks up
to Davidsonville. Any General or Extra-classed ham may become a VE though
the ARRL VEC by studying a book and taking an open-book exam. Generals can
give Technician exams and Extras can give all exams.

Eric W4OTN/3
