To anyone interested.

I found a good price for the Yaesu MH-85A11U Speaker/microphone with
camera.

Universal Radio Inc. Price is $119.95 plus shipping.

Universal ships UPS ground and flat rate shipping on a total purchase price
from $101.00 to $500.00 = $9.95.

Total would be $129.90, no tax (Ohio) ups ground usually two ship days
(weekends don't count).

Next best Price HRO @ $134.95 Free ship on this item. UPS ground if it ships
from Va. or Del usually arrives the next day.

The Radios Yaesu has a $40.00 rebate on the FTM-400 DR mobile and the FT1DR
hand held.

They both can use the MH-85A11U Speaker/Microphone with camera. The
microphone speaker does not function on the FTM-400DR (by design).

HRO has the best price on the Radios at this time Remember the rebate is
from Yaesu not the reseller.

Best price I have seen is $639.00 cash to dealer with a $40 rebate from
Yaesu (how long it takes???) for a total end expense

of $599.00.

Hot Deals on the HT model FT1DR with 1100 ma battery while they last; new
model FT1DR-HD is same radio with a 1800 ma battery. Selling about $60 to
$70 more. All models have $40 rebate from Yaesu. You can get a FT1DR and an
extra battery (1800ma) for about the same price as the FT1DR-HD

Those that offer the best deal on a radio don't always have the best prices
on the accessories.

Is this an expensive dual band radio? Yes it is. But in line with the
Kenwood analog w/TNC and Internal GPS, or the I-Com D-Star systems. They all
have their special options and use. One thing I have experienced is Digital
is really a pleasure to communicate on...no QRM! All you hear is the other
voice almost like being on a (choke) digital phone! With only a few contacts
locally (3 local stations) on simplex I must admit I am reluctant to go back
to FM analog. I would like to bring my radio up to the Radio Room this
coming Wednesday (Lunch Group) and let everyone give digital a try (Steve
N3IDX will be on another Digital so we can do a demo) you will really be
amazed. With ARES, RACES, CARA Repeater Committee and Drum Point Radio Club
approval, I would like to try taking a 400 to Drum Point Radio Room and
seeing if we can hit the repeater Digitally and using a digital HT at MHCC
see if that is a viable communication path.

I know this is just VHF and UHF, and maybe in some eyes not real Ham Radio,
but I must say the last few days have been like doing field day. Steve and I
did have a successful picture sending radio to radio this evening, we will
now start looking at the Data sharing transmition. Also we had some short
simplex communications with another Yaesu digital in Herrington Delaware
KC4ZPL. He was on our repeater this morning (analog) spoke with Ron W4PRR,
Bob N3PPH and myself, when I was on the correct frequency. Tonight I found
he was about 55.7 miles from my location not bad; but it didn't hold up,
since we had ducting this morning and tonight. I actually found him talking
to a local station analog and had him qsy to digital.

I could go on but I'm sure I have put some to sleep already so 73 have a
great Easter weekend, or regular weekend if you don't celebrate Easter.

Disclaimer:

I am not a salesman for Yaesu, Kenwood, or I-com, I do not have any
connection or interest in these companies. I receive no compensation or
reward if someone purchases a radio. My only interest is that I own some of
these radios and they are all great! They are similar, but not the same,
thus, you really can't compare them apples to apples. They all have some
proprietary features. Happy Communicating.
