Yep, I had a similar heat problem that cleared up when I moved some paper away from my Motorola modem. I tried a similar NEW Motorola loaner modem with no change while troubleshooting with the Comcast tech. I have also tried a new Cisco wireless router with no change! I can pass along the whole sad story of my battle to get it fixed, if you want it! 73,

I have (with the Comcast tech) swapped out my modem, wireless router (single band), and all cables from the pole to the modem. With a Comcast loaner combination modem / router my wireless speeds were VERY good (over 50 MB/Sec)!
