To All:

Here is a reply to my report to the ARRL of a potential problem with the driver disks that come with the Chinese HTs being sold: 

 
Thank you for your offer. It would be very helpful to have you scan these discs.
 
Some virus scanning software that’s out there create false positives; one software may red flag a program, while others will not. Some of our ARRL CDs that we have sold in the past have been flagged as having a virus, when in fact, they were free of viruses.
 
We have had several inquiries from only one post on a reflector. This case may be an example of one person finding a virus, though hundreds of units have sold with this CD. No other proof of a virus existing on the UV-3R’s software disc has been put forth.

Although the source was credible, it seems to be a false alarm.  (I am still going to scan all driver disks, and you should too!). Those of you who have one of these disks, I would like to borrow one to test because I still can't find mine.
