Thanks Ron. I am very thankful for the multiple responses to my request. I now have a piece of pipe to use and if I have problems with patterns I will look into plastic or fiberglass down the road. Right now I feel safer with the strength of aluminum hanging over the house.

Bob, are your beams rear or center mounted.  If you center mount them, you should use a non-metallic cross beam to reduce pattern interference.  If you use PVC, be sure to paint it to prevent sunlight degradation.  73,
