The producer of the show who is a ham knew the FCC issues bogus callsigns
like the movies uses "555: telephone numbers. With help of the ARRL this is
how that callsign came into being.

The producer of the show is a ham and they worked ham radio into Tim Allen's
character. Honestly I have only seen little bits and pieces of the show. I
did catch the Icom IC-9100 in the background in the part I watched.
