Hi, Jim
I appreciate very much your support in getting me up and running down here as we break into the HF bands. Would tomorrow Tuesday be a possibility? How about sometime in the morning to work on the Yaesu in the office?
I am looking at my trees around my house to see what I can do with my G5RV. Haven't had time to do much except dig out of the storm stuff for the past week. Anyway, moving along to get these radios on the air.
Peter

Peter, I'm sure you will get it down shortly. I can come down this week (pick a day) and we can go over a few things. We can also set up a little mini chat on 10, 15 and 20 meters during the next couple of weeks to shake out any bugs. There are enough of us free during the week to schedule something like this during the day, and I have found that others that hear us will joint in the QSO. Be thinking also were you want to string the G5RV at your home so we can set up an antenna party and get your new Kenwood TS 2000 fired up! Do you have a UHF antenna for your Home?

Also remember we are doing some weekly raw chewing on the repeater during the weekday mornings usually starting 6:30 am (actually closer to 7 am lately) until around 9am.

Join in if you get a chance. Various topics are discussed from detailed Rocket Science (launching squirrels into the ionosphere) to everyday chat; sometimes we actually talk about Ham Radio subjects. Dave W3PQS started this and it has become very popular, it has bee named by some as the CARA Coffee Net. We have Normal Daily Support from Dave, Bob N3PPH, Brian KB3URZ and Frank KB9RAL. Frequent support from Brian KB3WFV, Dick W3RBR, Ron WA4PRR and Don KR3A. Hopefully a new member of the coffee group Ed KB3WLG. And it can always give one some entertainment for those that choose to listen or like John,N3EDD whom needed traffic report to find a way out of Calvert County during the recent floods in the County Exit Roadways. We may even find it becoming a permanent part of our mornings as it becomes pretty additive like the coffee. (May become the directed morning CARA Club Net, with a net control and all the goodies!).

73' keep in touch by all modes of communication, especially radio....that's why we are HAM's.

Ask a HAM, he will tell you WATTS what!

  Regards,

  Jim Tetlow

Jim, back in 1954 when I first got my novice license I built a small AT-1 Heathkit (great fun smelling up the resin smoke). I have no idea what happened to it in the meantime.

I am working though the manual for the Yaesu. Notes at the back are helpful. Wow, as you say it ain't for novices, it does everything except fry eggs. It worked well on 2 meters, though. Thursday I spent some time re-securing the antenna from the trees to the pole behind the office. Gave some more slack to the ladder feed so it hangs more vertically.

I will call for help when I reach a deadend. Thanks for the offer.

  Peter

Thanks Wayne that's a welcome story. I'm sure they would do very well indeed.
