Don't fee alone, that is why I signed up for the class; so much to learn, so
little time!
Dick, if you have computer access going to the FEMA site will give you all
the information about NIMS.
Basically it is the interaction of agencies during an emergency.
The following is taken from the Web-site, but one must read on.
The <http://www.fema.gov/pdf/emergency/nims/NIMS_core.pdf> National
Incident Management System (NIMS) provides a systematic, proactive approach
to guide departments and agencies at all levels of government,
nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector to work seamlessly to
prevent, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the effects
of incidents, regardless of cause, size, location, or complexity, in order
to reduce the loss of life and property and harm to the environment.
This would be basic information to see how an amateur radio operator may be
of assistance and interact with agencies.
I have sent this along to all in the bounce/ reflector so have had training,
some have not, some are old hands, some are brand new (myself) and eager to
learn, many different and levels; with a common bond The CARA club! Have a
great weekend all, Indian summer is here to say for the next few days!
Sorry for the delay in response, but my daughter Michelle took me out for my
birthday lunch today, and we had a great time at the Mexico Restaurant in
Huntingtown!
Regards, 73's and 88's

Hi Jim,
Can you enlighten me on what NIMS is? I am in RI visiting family and will
not be at tonight's meeting.
Thanks,
Dick T.

All,
Calvert County is giving NIMS 300 and 400 classes. Starts
October 19th at 8:30 am and lasts three 8 hour days (with lunch break).
Class dates are: Wednesday19th, Thursday 20th, & Friday 21st; all sessions
begin at 8:30 am and are held in the County Services Building, 158 Main
Street P.F.
Still have openings; you may contact Carl Brown or Kim Gott at the EOC; to
sign up. Number for Kim Gott is 410-535-1600 x 2638
<tel:410-535-1600%20x%202638> or email: gottkr at co.cal.md.us.
I realize this is impossible for most that have jobs to attend such things,
this is set up for county employees, but for those who can it may be better
than taking this course(s) on-line. For doing this on-line you can find
links on the FEMA website.
Remember a bad day on the radio is better than a good day at work.
