Guys,
I'm not sure my attempts to forward this have been working. Please excuse
me if this ends up a duplicate. It's a copy of what I sent to my post to go
into our next newsletter.

*ATTENTION POST MEMBERS WHO HAM RADIO OPERATORS (if any).*
Earlier this year National voted to authorize the creation of a Legion
Amateur Radio Club (TALARC). Since then staff at National Headquarters in
Indianapolis who are hams obtained the call *K9TAL* (K9 *T*he
*A*merican *L*egion)
and took over an old photographic dark room to set up a station. After 6
months of work the club made it's first radio contact on Wednesday,
November 23, 2011 at 1930Z with Ron / WU2B in East Orange, NJ on 20 meters.
They have now scheduled the very first ever club net for Wednesday,
December 14, 2011 at 2100 EST on 7230 KHz LSB (+/-) (by the time this is
published this date will have past). This happens to be our December
membership meeting night. I hope to set up a portable station in my truck &
operate from the post parking lot. More nets are sure to follow.
Membership in the club is *FREE* and open to all Legion, Aux., & S.A.L.
members who are licensed amateur radio operators. You need only send an
e-mail request to k9tal <k9tal at legion.org>
<k9tal at legion.org>@legion.org<k9tal at legion.org>listing your name,
address, call sign, post information, & membership
number. The club website (such as it is so far) is
http://legion.org/hamradio. Information on the club is also available on
http://www.qrz.com. Enter K9TAL in the call sign search box.
I hope my fellow hams at Post 274 will sign up for TALARC as I have.
