112 is the european  equivalent to 911 in the US if it works in theUSA  it
would only be in a few areas.  911 is still. And always be the number to
call if in doubt about who is behind you.  If you happen out of one
jursdiction into another that  911 Cal center will hand you off to the right
one baised on your location. They will ask you where you are located as very
few has GPS tracking  abilities.  Around here  more so but more rual areas
do not. 

I hope this clears a somewhat urban myth. At least here in USA
