Hi all,
I just discovered a neat feature of the NRD545 Notch Filter. You all
know that once a Het is
notched out, the NRD545 Notch can be made to track the setting so you
can tune up or
down a number of cycles without loosing the notch? I found this also
good for notching out
a station, regardless whether it's a het or not, to hear whats being
broadcasted by another
station beneath the stronger one. For example, on 9530 kHz there's VOA
from the Philippines
and the Voice of Vietnam. When I first tuned in, I could hardly hear
Vietnam because VOA was
blasting it away. I tryed notching out the VOA and was successful to
the point VOA dipped
down considerably. I hit the tracking and Vietnam just popped right in
clear as a bell when I retuned slightly.
I suppose this is possible with any good receiver's notch, but the fact
that you can track the
notch with the NRD545, makes it easier and more fulfilling to use.
It's nice to find a receiver that's superior.
