Dear Rick,

Every write up I have read about these converters for the JRC and Drake vhf
and uhf, especially true for the JRC 545, have stated how these converters
all appear to be deaf and extremely overpriced for their extremely poor
performance. All the critics/evaluators suggested do not buy or get a stand
alone scanner for less money, unless they need vhf or uhf ssb performance
where some other choice would still be better than the JRC or DRAKE
converters. These converters seem to be added as an after thought because
their performance does not come remotely close to their terrific HF
performance. You would think that JRC and Drake would be ashamed to charge
what they do for such poor performance. The Drake only covers from 35-55 Mhz
and 108-174 Mhz. For the price of the extremely limited range of the Drake
converter, you could get a very nice and wide range scanner. I hope that
helps...
