Hi Charles:
Use a longwire, as long as possible. This is what I use on my NRD-545DSP
for receiving, while transmitting on 1 of 4 other types of ants.
Actually it's a Inverted L 140 feet long. For receiving it's better than
the beams, dipoles, etc. and it's only 20 feet above ground. Of course it's
only good for LF to HF. It will not work very good on VHF.
