Hi,

Some time ago I set my Ranger aside with a suspect bypass cap on the 
final screen resistor. Early pandemic I ordered a suitable replacement 
and installed it. Seemed good so I reassembled the Ranger. A short time 
later it *smoked*. How fast can you find the "Off" switch?! I did that 
quick. And set it aside.

Today I removed it from the cabinet and found an accidental short behind 
the 6146. I had been hoping something got bumped and it was the first 
place I looked! I have also been hoping the power supply wasn't 
ruinated. I was double lucky. The Ranger is back in business. It was 
given to me by one of my elmers more than a month or two ago. He 
couldn't drive at night any more so I picked him up and took him around 
to hamfests and club meetings (remember those?). Eventually he gave me 
the old Ranger out of his appreciation. He had other, better gear to get 
on the air. He has been SK a long time now and I hated to think the 
Ranger was all done, too.
