[Johnson] Valiant power on and transmit jewel bulbs

Still working on the Valiant. I have now torn the vfo covers off and
rebuilt the original owners rebuilt coupler. I spent 4 hours doing this
to get the vfo dial to finally work without freezing up. It was a
combination of round head screws touching inside the vfo box and most of
all a case of binding when you would tighten the big brass nut holding
the coupler/dial assembly to the front panel. It was just a matter of
putting a large star washer between the gear box nut and the backside of
the front panel. As with anything, it never seems to go back together
quite like it came apart. I just couldnt figure out why the front panel
would not sit flat like one would assume when reinstalling. It was
leaving a very small space between the front panel and the gear box nut
and when you tightened it up it would freeze up the mechanism. It is now
fixed for good and the radio is back on the operating bench.

While I was inside this thing though. I noticed a green wire coming from
the right jewel light on the front of the radio. It is cut and just
wound around the other wires coming from the bulb.Under the chassis I
notice a green wire going up into the top side of the chassis but cant
see it coming out. Looks as if it might be buried in a harness. Until I
get more time to look at the schematic, Im not sure what this wire is
all about. My questions is whether or not the jewel light on the left
side is supposed to ever turn on? The bulb on the right turns on when I
go into transmit but the left bulb never does. Maybe this cut green wire
is the culprit. The left bulb does have wiring going to it. My Ranger
has two bulbs but the right one is a dummy light. Doesnt have any wiring
to it. Also, I have noticed on You Tube videos a couple of the radios I
have seen, have a green jewel on the left side. Can anyone clarify that?
Mine is red just like the one on the right. Can anyone tell me when thir
bulbs turn on if they even do?

BTW- havent blown any fuses yet. Knock on wood!!
