All right,
Im happy to say, my newly acquired Valiant seems to be working well. The
3 wire cord is now in place. I decided to have the fuse holder under the
chassis so as not to disturb the integrity of the original radio by
drilling any holes and retaining the SSB adapter fitting. It loads up on
all bands with great power output per the manual. Unfortunately, I am
having trouble with the VFO being stuck again after reassembling the
case. So, Ive decided to rebuild the previous owners rebuild so I can
get it right and not have to worry about it any longer. He just used to
big of bolts with fat heads to screw the two halves together and they
just dont seem to have enough clearance when everything is tightened
down. I want to take it apart again to repaint the thing so that will be
the time I do the coupler.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions and as soon as I have the time, I will
get this thing up on my website so I can show the before and after shots
when I am really done with it. Nice thing about this radio is that there
are no modifications that I can find at all, other than the replacement
of the rectifier tubes which now have 3B28's. So, I am anxious to see
what my audio reports on AM turn out to be with a D-104. Thats the only
mike I have but should be fine.

Thanks again and we will let you know when the radio has been refinished.
