Bob,

Cool restoration! Love the pics and you did a great job.

As a side note, you might want to redo the PTT circuit, like with a UKA-3 interface from Ham Gadgets. Then again, maybe you like the feel of the 110 vdc on the PTT circuit; don't ask me how I know.

Evan, K9SQG

Subject: [Johnson] Viking Valiant restoration

Hi all,
As some of you may remember, I purchased a Valiant locally back in May.

Brought it home and I needed to put a power cord plug end on it to fire
it
up. I started by asking a question on the reflector as to whether or
not I
should change it to a 3 wire cord and it was a unanimous yes in
answer to the
question. In the end I am sure glad I did. Anyway, after
turning it on for the
first time, it lasted on the air for about 2
hours. I started having a few
issues to deal with before being able to
keep it on the operating table. I
decided to do a full restore. I have
finished the radio and have put a page on
my website showing the various
issues I had, the fixes, and the finish of the
revamp. With lots of
technical help from this reflector and a few who stuck
with me through
the process, the radio turned out great and works as good as
it looks
now. Let me know what you think. I want to thank those who worked

through the issues with me to get it going again. Click on the link
below.
