Hi,

Halogen bulbs are slightly modified incandescent bulbs - containing
halogen in the bulb with the filament. A 100 watt bulb is labeled
something like 94 watts and there is no "power supply" aside from the AC
power line. Without realizing that I was using a halogen bulb I put one
in the dummy load light socket and successfully lit it with my DX-100.
There was no difference including the transmission of a strong RF signal
in the ether. So my test lasted only briefly on a frequency I had
monitored for QRL. That was on 80 meters in mid afternoon. After tuneup
I tried a few CQs with no takers. Light bulbs might leak severely into
the ether but they really don't make great antennas.

CFLs are only good for removing the power supply boards and reusing the
parts for something good - like radios.
