Hi Brian,

When I had the issue way-back-when, a tightening of the VFO enclosure screws was ALL that it took to resolve the problem---PERIOD.

I even left the rig with a professional repair guy to try & fix it---but no luck.

Believe me, the fundamental fix in this instance is the prevention of feedback to the VFO from the rest of the rig.
