[Johnson] Invader VFO Shaft Breakage

Has anyone had the shaft of the of the Invader VFO tuning dial break
right where the small nylon spur gear that turns the VFO capacitor is
located? The shaft is only about 0.093" in diameter at that point and
is cross drilled for a pin that serves as a driving dog for the nylon
gear. If the VFO capacitor is turned too hard against an end stop, it
possible to break the shaft.

I bought an Invader in fair condition with the idea of refurbishing it
and noticed the VFO knob turned very freely. As I got into the
disassembly, I found that turning the knob only moved the dial pointer
and not the capacitor. The shaft was broken.
