And people wonder why I got fed up with the Zed...

So this thing being solved, can we get back to talking about our big

Hi Ed,Glen:

Have a solution. Glen, suck it up and box the radio carefully enclosing a
check for the fixed price and send it to Carl to finish the job --- he is
that kind of guy. I am sure he will be happy to finish the job. That way
Ed will be happy, you will be happy and Carl will be ecstatic.

Think I'll run over to Langley and see if I cant get a job as a hostage
negotiator. Just love it when a plan comes together! Everyone is going to
sleep like a baby tonight! Those awful philosophy classes have finally paid
off.

Kindest regards Jim K9AXN

Please email me directly elh54 at sbcglobal.net Since he wishes to go public, I
won't degrade myself answering his half truths, but I will tell you
privately my side of this almost five year mess.

Ed, if you want to get nasty, I can do so as well! ?However, all that I am
doing is to make my side of the situation known.

I agreed to work on your 32V-2 and accepted, against my better judgement, a
flat fee with the understanding that it would take a long time to repair and
restore the unit. ?You seem to forget that I restored your Collins "A" Line
receiver for a very good price and also repainted the cabinets for both the
receiver and transmitter for a very good price. ?My usual business practice
is to not accept any payment until the job is complete. ?However, you kept
insisting that I accept a flat amount because, according to you, you
probably would not have the funds available when the work was complete.

When the repair, etc., of a unit is going to greatly exceed the value of the
unit, I often tell the client that if they are willing to leave the unit for
an extended length of time that I will use the unit as "fill in" work and
therefore will not have to charge for the vast majority of the work. ?To
date, I have well over $1000, probably closer to $2000 in your transmitter
in parts and labor. ?The electrical condition of your 32V-2 was horrible! ?I
have replaced numerous parts and assemblies and the fee that you paid
doesn't come close to covering the cost of the parts, let alone the labor.

I will honor the flat fee that you paid even though it nowhere comes close
to covering the actual cost.

I have hundreds of satisfied customers and have never received a single
complaint. ?The fact that I tried to give you a "break" is coming back to
haunt me. ?Reassembling the 32V-2 is like putting a 1500 piece jigsaw puzzle
together. ?It takes a considerable amount of time and that doesn't include
all the labor to get the transmitter working again.

As you know, I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and have been having a
severe "flare up" for some time. ?The sheer pain from this cuts considerably
into the amount of work that I can do at a time. ?As I have told you before,
I am gradually getting the transmitter reassembled and it will be working
when you retrieve it. ?Again, you agreed to an extended repair time in order
to limit your financial obligations. ?

Yes, I have had your transmitter for over 3-years. ?Yes, I have been working
on it from time to time to limit your financial outlay. ?I cannot give you
an absolute date when the transmitter will be ready. ?However, you can be
assured that the transmitter will be working when you get it back!
?
