This makes absolutely no sense. Ed has asked to get the transmitter back in
whatever state it's currently in, you claim to be losing your shirt on it,
and already have at least some amount of payment - why wouldn't you just
give it back to him and let him take it to someone who will finish it
before the earth cools entirely? Giving it back to him now, though not in
the desired condition, seems like the best thing for both of you.

Spending a mere 15 minutes a day on it would allow more than enough time to
completely strip and rebuild it comfortably within a year, much less 3-5.
Claiming to have $1000-$2000 into a radio that wasn't worth that much
during the peak of eBay and still isn't done sounds suspect.
