Hi,
Just a quick update. One of the possible concerns was that the Ranger
when setup as I have it for 40 meter operation might have significant
output on other bands, particularly on 80 meters. Studying the way the
Ranger works as well several other radios that shouldn't happen. The
entire buffer/multiplier chain is *STILL* operating on 40 meters. The
Ranger in fact tunes up nicely on 40 but with reduced output. That is
expected too as the buffer/multiplier/amplifier chain is being tickled
with less energy.
There are no nearby hams on HF to listen for my signal. However there
*IS* the reverse beacon network. None of those stations has anything but
my "intended" signal and right down there with the other QRP signals.
I'm getting about 10 watts out of the Ranger on 40 configured this way.
I'll continue to watch RBN while I'm operating to make sure I don't have
my signal heard on multiple bands.
Now I have motivation to build some kind of spectrum analyzer project. I
have collected a number of useful modules for a project like that and
right NOW is the time to start putting them together. A box like that
would tell me what is coming from new or modified transmitters.
