I recently disassembled for salvage a tube based frequency counter (~1
mc upper limit) that outlived it's usefulness and nobody else wanted.
The old machine still worked as designed. I found a cathode bypass
capacitor lead wrapped around a ground lug that had never been soldered.
You never know what sort of unlikely thing you might find.
