[Johnson] Viking II on WARC bands?

Its basic transmitter design in place for decades in that the driver is not usually neutralized since it is a multiplier on the higher bands and so neutralization isnt needed. The question is at what straight thru frequency does the driver take off on its own?
The Viking I and II manuals state that fundamental crystals may be used on 160 to 40 and 7mc crystals for 20. For 10M 14mc crystals may be used.(but not on 20M)
Since 30M is between 40 and 20 its anyones guess what will happen especially in a kit built rig when running the driver straight thru. Each rig may react differently.

First I've heard of that. Anyone experienced this?

Dont be surprised if some rigs become unstable when the driver stage runs straight thru on higher frequencies. Not just Johnson which I believe warns about this in some manuals.CarlKM1H----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Cromwell" <wrcromwell at gmail.com>To: <johnson at mailman.qth.net>Sent: Wednesday, February 22, 2012 5:37 PMSubject: Re: [Johnson] Viking II on WARC bands?> Bry said:>>> Fascinating, Bill.
