I wonder just how common it is to find Rangers and Vikings that have been
made one way or another into CW only rigs. When I bought my Viking at the
first of the year the 6146 modulators had been removed, as well as the plate
cap leads. The ham I bought it from had bought it from another ham (and
never used it) but knew that the previous operator was a CW only soul...
Prior to beginning the teardown and restoration I put a set of modulators in
and replaced the plate cap leads. Aside from expected resistance drift and
capacitor leakage due to age there was no problem with the AM stage. Each
to their own I guess... :-)

Hi
I purchased a nice Viking Valiant several years back which is "CW Only"!!
I was told the previous owner was so afraid some CBer would get the Valiant
when he died so he removed the entire phone section.
I'm 99 percent CW here and love using it. It's lighter in weight and works
well but I'm having a hernia operation shortly and will have to sell it off.
I'll miss the 200 watts out on CW though.
