The old TV twin lead connectors that I have work fine for FT-243 connections since the pins are the same size. However, the pins are too large to fit the HC6/U socket.

I guess there may have been several sizes!

I use 300 ohm antenna plug connectors. Perfect fit. They came as male/female pairs and we used them back in the dark ages of B/W TV for 300 ohm antenna interconnects. It is the exact same item (male portion) that came with my original factory Johnsons. Believe it or not Radio Shack (when they were a real Radio Shack, ie you could buy real components) carried them and that is where I got mine. They now appear to be close to unobtanium, and the ones I have are probably close to 45-50 years old. No, sorry, I have none to spare. They are clear (at least almost clear after all this time) plastic with holes and screws at one end and proper spaced pins at the other. Insert stripped wire into the holes at the end and fasten with the screws.
