[Johnson] Zero (Spotting) Frequency Johnson Invader

I have developed a problem with my Invader in that I hear multiple
signals in my 75S-3 receiver when I try to zero the Invader to the
receiver frequency. Tuning the Invader VFO across the receiver
frequency, I get multiple zero beats about 3 KHz apart for maybe 15 KHz
on each side of the receiver setting. This dependent upon the zero
level setting as by increasing the zero level, I can hear them further out.

On AM, the points are weaker and I can not hear them as far put but they
are still there.

Any ideas as to where to start looking?

As much as I hate to move this piece of iron, Invader 2000, out to the
bench where I have my test equipment, I guess I have to. I am getting
too old to move the 100+ pound power supply around. At least it is on a
four wheel dolly.
