That is a bit of a  mystery. I think the manual(s) do not say.  If I  
remember right, the trouble is, you have to take the knobs OFF to get  
inside to see what the orientation of each cap is.

Possibly there's a typical settings table in the manual that would  
give a hint.  Lower capacitance on the tuning cap for higher  
frequency.  Intuitive-ness would have us put the knob on so higher  
dial numbers got us higher frequency, but that may not be right.
