It certainly works, but could be improved. You could go full bore and use
this http://www.amwindow.org/tech/htm/rangtron.htm or just use some of the
ideas such as the low power DC approach. I did the latter fairly easily.

I have my restored Ranger II ready to go back into the cabinet except that I

need to build the PTT Circuit. Is the one in the manual generally accepted 
or is there a more desirable circuit?
