[Johnson] Powder Coating

I bought the Harbor Freight powder coat system several years ago and it works quite well. You do not have to use it with their powder coat, it will work fine with other vendors powder coats. A low cost source of powder coats can be found by searching eBay or approach local powder coat shops, they buy in bulk and are usually willing to sell you left overs from jobs. When buying the left over powder coat make sure it has been kept dry. Your biggest problem is going to be an oven to cure the powder coat, the kitchen oven will work but there are considerable fumes when the powder coat is curing so do what I did and get an oven from the dump and install it in the garage and put a ventilation fan in nearby. I suggest practicing on a few scrap pieces to get your technique down and also to figure out how to fabricate cureing fixtures for the pieces you are coating. Powder coat is an incredibly durable finish I think you will like it. I have also heard warnings
from the R-390 folks about how powdercoating fills in the engraving on engraved front panels, beware of this possibility.
