My suggestion is to (strike me dead, Official Observers!) leave the chirp in
there. Most of the Johnson transmitters had a "hard" note which made it
them easy to identify. The chirping Ranger is distinctive, and will
undoubtedly produce interesting QSOs rather than the standard cookie cutter
