The only other thing that immediately comes to mind is
to modify the keying circuit so that the VFO stays on
whenever the unit is in the "transmit" position.
However, this will eliminate any chance of using
break-in.

I've still got the chirp time on 40 or 80. It chirps
worse on 20 or 15. I suppose that's the multiplier
effect exaggerating whatever chirp is happening on 40.
