[Johnson] Johnson Viking II Meter Shunt Question

Scott,

I think I should have added a little about soldering the shunt. The
shunt is, most likely some sort of nichrome wire. Therefore a good quality
flux and silver solder should be used to solder it to the chassis. Most
likely, back in King Tut's time, regular solder and flux was used to make
the connection. Therefore, a "good" connection was probably never achieved
and with time corrosion settles into the joint and causes a high (higher)
resulting value to the shunt, thus making meter readings appear higher than
normal. Again, the fix is to clean all of the old solder off and use a good
silver solder flux (like the clear liquid that Richard Measures supplies
with his parasitic suppressor kits for soldering nichrome wire) and silver
solder to solder the meter shunt back to the chassis.
