I stumbled across a comment in a old reflector posting recently that referred to the plate leads of the 6146 modulator tubes in a Johnson Valiant transmitter being in the correct "phase." The article went on to say that if the plate cap leads are not in the correct "phase" relationship, simple reversing them will provide better transmitter performance.
I checked the construction manual for the Valiant I and no mention of connecting a specific plate lead to a specific modulator tube was mentioned.
Is there any truth (or significant value in performance) to this concept that it does matter which plate lead connects to each modulator tube? Appreciate any advice the list membership might have. Bill, w0ng.
