[Johnson] Ranger question

This Ranger I'm using now has too much of a good thing.  When in Tune or 
Standby the oscillator is simply too much and causes interference with 
my receiver.  I have to switch the vfo to a vacant crystal position to 
prevent interference on the R-390 or R-388 receiver.  I can't remember 
having this problem in the past with Rangers, but with my memory that's 
not saying much.  The mod that increases the signal injection by adding 
the buffer to the tune sequence has not been made, so that's not the 
problem.  I don't have it grounded and that may be part of it, but it 
seems more than that.  I can actually get a small reading on the watt 
meter when in tune.  What am I over looking?
