No actually,
I use the Johnson TR switch on both of my BC-610
transmitters with an HQ-129(X) with each one. I don't
have a "suck-out" problem with them, I get a small amount
of gain to the receivers also, but for AM work I also have
relay controlled muting to the HQ-129(X) or there is this
terrible noise (Me, saying ,Oh CRAP, I did it again) and then
I remember to enable the mute again.
I dump around 400 watts to my antenna system thru mine and
the thing just works. I might mention that if you have it sitting near other
receivers it get so hot that it will cause the receiver to drift. My
solution was a box mounted 12VDC computer fan that blows through the thing.
