I agree with Gary, there's still something wrong in there. I haven't had any polarity issues with the 4 Rangers I've owned.  They should work in either polarity.  The only time I encountered a polarity problem was when using one of the antenna switch over pins to drive an amplifier.  In that case, hot or neutral is applied to 1 pin depending on the plug polarity.
