[Johnson] Another Valiant Newby question

John: In regards to your Valiant, what you are asking it to do is exactly the
opposite of what the Johnson Engineers originally designed it to do. What
you are asking is like asking that "how do I adjust my 750 hp Nextel Cup race
car so I can drive it at 10 mph in the parking lot at church on Sunday?" I
must agree with Pete. Your best solution is a better and larger antenna. Your
problems are minor. If your home covenants and deed restrictions will not
permit it, then the obvious solution is to sell your home and move to an area
better suited for large antennas. What could be a simpler solution? Take
advantage of Mr. Greenspan's low interest rates to really improve your
antenna and signal! -73- Sherrill k4own

You said, "The question still remains - why is the Valiant so cranky at low
power outputs?"

I don't recall if you said how you are trying to run it at "low power
levels". What are you doing to "turn the power down"? Maybe, if we knew that,
it might be easier to answer your question. What amount of higher RF power
(AM/CW??) are you looking for?
