I just acquired a pair of Adventurers:  one is cosmetically very good, but 
is poorly soldered and the power supply has been converted to solid state; 
the other is cosmetically very poor, but is well-soldered, although quite 
filthy, and contains original electrolytics.  I would like to restore one of 
them to near original.  My questions are:  should I replace the components 
with new or NOS, should I shun solid state conversion, and what about 
completely de-soldering the rig and starting from scratch?  I have the 
skills and equipment to de-solder.  Also, are there any mods that I should 
consider (I know that contradicts "near original").
