I suspect a tube. Intermittent noise is hard to track
down so possibly changing out the tubes would be in
order. Also remove any old paper coupling caps in the
chain. Finally, check that that the popping isn't
attributed to arcing over of the mod transformer. Then
I suspect there will be real headaches. That's about
