Well, the only voice we have, regardless of how poor or unresponsive is the
American Rat Race League.
I have been a life member since the 1960's and have been disturbed by the
way the ARRL promoted amateur radio.
All this crap, dumbing down of the amateur test, has lead to the ARRL trying
to inflate their ranks as well as the number of licensed ham operators.
However, I feel they have failed. The reason is that many of the "so
called" ham operators think they know everything when they pass the test.
The league has tried to pass of the tech's as a helping hand in emergencies.
The fact is they have no idea what they are doing and will not take the time
to read the manuals or take any training. At least wise here in the
Northeast.
The bottom line here is "WE" have to make the ARRL listen to what "WE"
want. The amateur community at large today is divided, us's and them's.
Ok, us's the extra's with code and the rest of the no-coders. The ham
community needs unity, I have tried to bring the new hams into the fold but
they resist, yet they want the privilage to operate the HF bands for FD and
at the club station.
With enough membership crying in unity to the ARRL they will respond. The
leaders are elected and I think most care about the league and Ham radio in
general.
So, contrary to what you say, the ARRL is still the only voice we as Ham's
have in this democracy.
