Dale: The Ranger is supposed to put 120 vac on the relay terminals when it is
in the trasmit mode. This feature is to activate the transmit/receive relay
in the Johnson antenna tuner. This relay has an 120vac coil. -k4own.

Dale: What do you mean "full ac voltage"? Do you mean 600+ vac or 120 vac?
Sounds like something came lose and shorted to the final tank/antenna
circuits? I suggest to remove it from the cabinet and do a visual inspection.
Disconnet all power immediately from your Ranger. -73- Sherrill W. k4own.

Hi group.
Two questions. Why would The ranger have full ac voltage on the antenna
terminals on the back with the power cord plug in ,but operate switch off.it
use to work fine.Next question,My vfo seems dead, works fine with xtals.tried
new tubes in there, the infamous resister has been changed long ago.I get
buffer current by advancing the drive control and oscillator reading on the
meter,but no grid drive.Thanks dale/ka5who.in central NH
