Not specific to the Invader but the article that was
in Electric Radio a while back about the 6146 family
of tubes can be found on either of the website URLs
that appear at the end of this message.
Frankly, I have found that the 6146B works fine in
some individual units yet will not work at all in
units of the same model with very close serial
numbers. It all depends on the tolerances of parts
and the absolute construction of each unit. However,
most of the units designed for the earlier versions of
the 6146 family do not function well with the 6146B /
6146W (later version).

Is there any hard information concerning the use of
6146/6146A vs. 6146B/6146W in Johnson transmitters,
specifically the Invader? Do the B versions
neutralize properly and react correctly in the circuit?
