To all that have offered help and hints, I want to thank you for your input.
According to the manual,
the CDC will hit all the WARC and pre-WARC bands with an input between 1.8
(160m) and a little over
6 mcs (10m). In order to keep the
project within a reasonable budget, my plan now seems to be leaning towards
using a BC-221
(since I already have one) and a homebrew buffer/driver tuneable between it
and the CDC.
I know the 221 is pretty rich in harmonics so this plus the tuned stages
inside the CDC should
take care of unwanted freq radiation --- besides, considering what a desert
HF has become with
hundreds of kcs between signals, the changes of interfereing with anyone is
rather remote.
The driver will be rather simple. Just a tapped coil in the tank but won't
need a meter as can tune
it by the buffer level in the CDC on its meter. Considering all the junk I
have in the garage along with
the BC-221, this should accomplish the job in less than $10 -- most will be
labor on my part.
Will be on the lookout at the ORL fest in case something better comes up.
Again, tks for the ideas and input.

Walt (N4GL)
