The fact that the Valiant series uses three 6146 tubes
in the final amplifier in parallel would make it very
difficult to work on 6 meters. The single 6146 in the
Ranger was fairly easy to make work on 6 meters.
Motorola used a pair of 6146 tubes in the 60 watt
output "A" lowband (30 MHz to 50 MHz) transmitters.
However, they were in a push-pull arrangement and not
parallel. The 6146 works fine on 6 meters and even 2
meters with the correct circuitry. However, running
them in parallel is NOT the way to go.

All: I'm looking at my Valiant II as I write this, and
it most definitely doesn't cover 6 meters. I'd be
very intrigued to hear about a Valiant II (not a
Ranger II) that covers 6 meters. Anyone have one operating?
