You're not going to want to hear this, Paul, but you don't have to remove
the entire cover to replace R3. Looking at it from the front, pull the cover
on your left. It comes off fairly easily. There's R3, staring at you. Not
roomy in there, but not all that hard to do.

Subject: [Johnson] VALIANT VFO
Greetings,
I am trying remove the VFO cover on my Valiant so I can replace R3. I have
the cover loose and can raise it about a 1/4", but it is not free yet. I
did this once on a Ranger many years ago and I remember it was a bear. My
right angle screwdriver is to big to remove the last two lid screws between
the front panel and the VFO cover, but I'm not so sure that is going to let
me see what's not letting me lift the cover. I need to get this down
because I have a Ranger to do too.
Thanks,
Paul W9PJ
